I Don't Get It PHOTOS...

I really don't get this at all...

For the past year, I have been struggling to get my weight to go down... I still have atleast 40 pounds to go and have not been able to get the scale to go down.  I've changed up my training... I know I can eat cleaner, but I still want to live a life that I can maintain... and I'm still training and racing in triathlons.

Since I have been on a plateau for the past year, I knew that it was time to give up my final vice... for the past 3 months, I have cut my alcohol calories by 75%.  I lost 50 pounds with eating right and exercise and I didn't hit that final frontier... but after being stagnant with the the numbers for over a year, I knew it was time... and now my weight numbers are going up...

... then I saw these photos side to side... my lowest weight a year ago and my current weight more than 10 pounds heavier.  I've seen the photo difference in 2 pounds... we all have as I've been posting these photos, so I really don't understand these photos since this doesn't look like almost an 11 pound difference...

195.5 pounds
206.2 pounds

Once again, I need to understand that I have to watch more than the number on the scale.  I have to watch the way my clothes fit, how my body feels, and how I am performing with my training.  I did my last brick before the Spring Sprint Triathlon today and I am right on track with my goal.  This weight loss thing is really tough... but long term, I'm going to be sure it works!

One week to go until my first Spring Sprint Triathlon... WOO HOOOO!

Our Bug's First Race...

... today was such an AMAZING day!  Two weeks ago, Anna decided that she wanted to complete her first race.  After the past few years of getting up at 4:30AM to go to my races... and waiting around for hours until I started/finished... today was OUR day to cheer on our little bug.

I'm going to let the photos tell the story, but I can add that the "water works" started the moment she lined up at the start and didn't stop until well after she finished.  Mama Bear is sooooo proud tonight!  Even more so that our God daugher, Catalina, wanted to do this race with Anna!  Five months apart in age... but connected by the heart! :-)
Photos before the race... the girls were
SOOOOOOO nervous!
Really... our "Anna... Banana!"
This was the best Race Street Fair that we have seen...
so much fun stuff to see and do!
Just before the start... (go, girls, GO!)
Our sweet bug... always with the tounge out... :-)
We saw the girls coming around the bend at the top of the hill.  They were
walking together, but as soon as they saw the finish, they started to run...
and then Anna saw a boy next to her...
... and she picked it up (GO, Anna, GO!)
... and our bug FINISHED STRONG!  Wooo HOOOO!
The girls finishing... :-)
... getting their medals...
... Anna leading Cat through the finish... bananas... oranges... water...
electrolite drinks... the kids got the royal treatment!
And... they are FINALLY smiling!
In the final race chute...
I couldn't be more proud...
... and same with Jeff.  Our girls ROCKED!!!
Like I said... it was a FANTASTIC day.  These kids inspired me so much... race season has started... here we go!

I am officially an ATHLETE!

With all the years I've tried to lose weight...

... and all the years I've been in the gym... and I've trained...

... I have lost 50 pounds and I have been successful...

... and even though I still have a ways to go, I have been named the "San Diego Triathlete Series Athlete of the Month!"

... and I could not be more proud! :-)  WOOO HOOOOO!
